The victim was identified as 81-year-old actor James Handy, known for his appearances in films including Jumanji, Top Gun: Maverick, and Arachnophobia. The suspect has been identified as 44-year-old Michael Gledhill, who is reportedly the son of the victim’s girlfriend.

Police Response to Tarzana Stabbing

According to the Los Angeles Police Department, officers responded to a residence on Erwin Street at approximately 9:30 a.m. after receiving a 911 call that included a disturbing statement from the caller.

The caller reportedly said, “I am the son of man, I just killed the man of sin,” according to information released by investigators.

When officers arrived at the scene, they discovered James Handy unconscious in the front yard with a single stab wound to the chest. Emergency responders transported him to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Suspect Identified and Taken Into Custody

Police stated that Michael Gledhill was taken into custody shortly after the incident. As officers arrived in the area, Gledhill reportedly approached them and identified himself as the suspect.

He was arrested on suspicion of murder and booked into Van Nuys Jail.

Authorities confirmed that his bail was set at $2 million.

Detectives said the suspect lived at the residence with his mother, who was in a relationship with the victim. Investigators believe the incident stemmed from a domestic situation.
