A newborn baby was found dead inside a portable restroom at the Electric Forest music festival in Rothbury, Michigan, on Sunday morning, prompting an active investigation by Michigan State Police.

Discovery Made During Routine Maintenance

The infant was discovered inside a porta-potty located in the festival campgrounds at the Double JJ Resort.

According to investigators, an employee servicing the portable restrooms found the baby during routine maintenance and immediately notified authorities.

Police described the infant as a newborn. Authorities have not yet determined whether the baby was stillborn or died after birth.

Investigation Underway

Michigan State Police are working to identify and locate the baby’s mother as part of the ongoing investigation.

An autopsy has been scheduled to determine the cause and manner of death. Investigators have also asked anyone who may have information about the incident to contact the Michigan State Police Tip Line.
