4 Injured in Shooting at Houston Fifth Ward Apartment Complex

Four people were injured Thursday evening after gunfire erupted between two groups at an apartment complex in Houston’s Fifth Ward, police said. The shooting occurred on June 25, 2026, in the 5300 block of Coke Street, where investigators say an argument between neighbors escalated into an exchange of gunfire. Several possible suspects have been detained, while others reportedly fled the scene.
Argument Escalated Into Gunfire
According to the Houston Police Department (HPD), the dispute began between residents of two adjoining apartments and lasted for several hours.
Investigators said the confrontation started after one group, who was in the process of moving out, allegedly threw trash into a shared courtyard. The disagreement intensified before multiple people from both groups exchanged gunfire.
Four People Hospitalized
HPD said four people were injured during the shooting, and all are expected to survive.
The victims include:
- Two women who suffered gunshot wounds.
- An adult man who sustained a graze wound to the head.
- A boy, believed to be 11 or 12 years old, who suffered a graze wound to the leg.
All four victims were transported to local hospitals for treatment.
Investigation Continues
Police detained several possible suspects at the scene for questioning. However, investigators said additional individuals involved in the shooting fled the area in a vehicle before officers arrived.
No arrests or criminal charges had been announced as of Thursday night, and investigators continue working to determine each person’s role in the incident.
The Houston Police Department’s Northeast Patrol and Patrol Support units are leading the ongoing investigation.
