2 Men Shot Dead in Chicago’s Dunning Community

Two men were killed in a shooting Thursday afternoon in Chicago’s Dunning neighborhood, police said. The double homicide occurred around 3:30 p.m. on June 25, 2026, in the rear alley of a home in the 7800 block of West Cahill Terrace. No arrests have been announced as detectives continue investigating the fatal shooting.
Police Responded to Reports of Gunfire
According to the Chicago Police Department (CPD), officers responded to reports of shots fired and found two men suffering from multiple gunshot wounds in an alley behind a residence.
Neighbors told investigators they heard a heated argument moments before several gunshots rang out. Some initially believed the sounds were fireworks.
Two Victims Died at Hospital
Both victims were transported in critical condition to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, where they were later pronounced dead.
Police said one victim was a 20-year-old man. The second victim, believed to be about 21 years old, has not yet been publicly identified.
Authorities have not released additional information about the victims pending notification of their families.
Detectives Search for Suspect
Investigators recovered a firearm and rifle casings at the scene as they processed evidence.
Police said no suspects are currently in custody. Detectives are reviewing witness statements after one person reported seeing an individual wearing a brown hoodie running west on Addison Street shortly after the shooting.
The Chicago Police Department’s Area Five detectives continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the double homicide.
