Comedian Viral for Buying Stranger’s Groceries Banned From Walmart for Life

U.S. News

Viral comedian and content creator Damon Darling has been permanently banned from Walmart, Sam’s Club and Murphy USA locations, according to the company.

The ban came after Darling posted about a confrontation at a Walmart store and suggested that he was being punished for trying to buy groceries for people in need. Walmart, however, said the charitable activity was not the reason for the lifetime ban.

Walmart Explains the Lifetime Ban

Walmart said Darling received a lifetime trespass notice because of what the company described as a history of policy violations.

A Walmart spokesperson said the violations involved disruptive behavior, trespassing and unauthorized filming inside stores. The company said those issues were unrelated to Darling’s charitable activities.

Darling has previously built an online following through videos in which he gives money, food and other assistance to people facing financial difficulties.

Confrontation at Ohio Store

The dispute became public after Darling shared footage of a confrontation at a Walmart store on August 7, 2026.

According to reports, a Walmart employee stopped Darling from entering the store. Police later became involved and served him with paperwork notifying him of the lifetime trespass order.

The incident quickly attracted attention online, with supporters arguing that Darling was being targeted because of his efforts to help strangers.

Walmart disputed that characterization and pointed to Darling’s previous conduct inside its stores.

Darling’s Past Content

Before focusing more heavily on charitable videos, Darling was known for prank and disruptive content filmed in retail stores.

Reports have cited previous videos involving stunts such as throwing merchandise, staging fake falls and other behavior that violated store policies.

Darling later acknowledged that his history of content may have contributed to Walmart’s decision.

He also asked followers not to boycott Walmart over the dispute and said he would respect the ban.

What Happens Next

Darling said he plans to continue producing giveaway and charitable videos at other locations.

The lifetime trespass notice means he cannot legally enter Walmart, Sam’s Club or Murphy USA properties covered by the order.

The controversy has continued to generate discussion online about the limits of filming charitable content inside private businesses and how retailers handle disruptive social media creators.
