Detective Shot While Serving Search Warrant Near Palmdale

A San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department detective was shot and wounded while serving a search warrant near Palmdale on Wednesday afternoon, August 5, 2026. Authorities said the suspect was killed during the incident.

Shooting During Search Warrant

According to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, deputies were executing a search warrant at a home near Avenue R and 130th Street East in the Littlerock area, southeast of Palmdale, at approximately 3:15 p.m.

During the operation, gunfire erupted, striking a detective.

The injured detective was transported to Antelope Valley Hospital, where officials said the detective is in stable condition.

Authorities said the suspect was struck by return fire and was pronounced dead at the scene. No other injuries were reported.

Investigation Underway

Because the shooting involved San Bernardino County deputies operating within Los Angeles County, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Homicide Bureau has assumed responsibility for the investigation.

Officials have not released details about the search warrant or what led to the exchange of gunfire.
