15-Year-Old Girl Arrested for the Murder of 5 Family Members in Southern Illinois

A 15-year-old girl and her 16-year-old boyfriend have been arrested and charged in connection with a shooting spree that left five members of the girl’s family dead and two others injured in East St. Louis, Illinois.

Deadly Shooting Spree Across East St. Louis

According to investigators, the shootings took place over the weekend at three separate locations in East St. Louis, including a residential complex, a public avenue, and Jones Park.

Authorities said all seven victims were members of the same family and related to the 15-year-old suspect. Five people were killed, while two others survived with serious injuries.

The victims who died were identified as Patricia A. May, 74; Cherie L. May, 49; Devin May, 24; Quentin L. Thompson, 21; and Shania W. Thompson, 25.

Investigators Allege Relationship Fueled Attack

Investigators and family members believe the teenage couple planned the attacks after the girl’s family opposed their relationship.

Authorities allege tensions escalated after relatives refused to allow 16-year-old Ja’ymier M. Davis to stay at the family’s home following accusations that he had stolen a firearm. Investigators also allege the pair posted a “hit list” online before the shootings.

Teenagers Face Serious Charges

The St. Clair County State’s Attorney’s Office approved multiple charges against both suspects.

Davis has been charged as an adult under Illinois law. Prosecutors filed a 12-count complaint that includes five counts of first-degree murder, attempted murder, aggravated vehicular hijacking, and one count of dismembering a human body.

The 15-year-old girl’s identity has not been released because she is a juvenile. She faces first-degree murder charges through a juvenile delinquency petition, while prosecutors seek to transfer her case to adult court.

Illinois State Police arrested both suspects during a vehicle stop at a state park. The investigation remains ongoing.
