Stick Run game creator appeared to take his own life on Twitch
The creator of the video game Stick Run appeared to have taken his own life during a broadcast on the livestreaming platform Twitch, according to a statement posted by the game.
“Stick Run is aware of a livestream on Twitch involving its creator and owner, Manuel Otto, in which he appeared to have taken his own life,” the game said in a statement on its social media accounts on Tuesday. “We understand that Twitch has since removed the livestream and associated video.”
Screenshots circulating online purportedly show moments before and during the incident, which was streamed on the Twitch account devmwni.
PNP, a regional newspaper in Germany, reported that one person died in a fire in an attic room in Breitbrunn am Chiemsee, a town in the southern state of Bavaria, on Tuesday evening. Authorities have not identified the person who died.
A 2013 newspaper interview identified Otto as being from Staudach-Egerndach, a town near the site of the fatal fire.
The game’s post asked anyone with information that could help clarify what happened to contact Stick Run or their local law enforcement agency.
