Trump endorses Netanyahu ahead of Israeli election
U.S. President Donald Trump has given his “complete and total endorsement” to Benjamin Netanyahu as the long-time Israeli prime minister and his party struggle for an edge in this month’s parliamentary election.
Trump, in a post on Truth Social, praised Netanyahu as a “Great Warrior Prime Minister” and an “even greater Partner for Peace” in fighting the Iranian regime, which he claimed had been militarily and financially destroyed. “Unless they change their ways, rapidly, we will soon finish the job,” he added.
Trump continued: “If Israel has the wrong Leader, which would be anyone other than Bibi, America will have to do this work ourselves, and I am not inclined to do so. … This is the kind of Partner that the United States of America is demanding of Israel, a Country for which it has done so much.”
Giving his “complete and total endorsement”, Trump added: “BIBI NETANYAHU WILL NEVER LET YOU DOWN!”
Netanyahu responded to Trump in a video posted on social media, saying: “President Trump, my dear friend Donald, I’m so honored and humbled by your extraordinary endorsement. I could say, and that’s easy, there’s never been a greater friend of Israel in the White House. That’s an understatement, not by the longest shot.”
Elections to choose all 120 members of the Israeli Knesset are scheduled to take place on October 27, after which the biggest parties will need to form a coalition and choose a prime minister. Polls indicate none of the candidates have a clear path to power. Netanyahu has been prime minister of Israel since 2020, with brief interruptions between 2020 and 2022, and from 1996 to 1999.
President Trump, my friend Donald – thank you for your extraordinary endorsement. Israel has never had a greater friend in the White House. Together we will never let Iran’s regime get nuclear weapons. Thank you for your clarity, courage and unwavering support.
