Potsie From Happy Days, 77, Goes Shirtless To Inspire Boomers — And It’s Working – The List

Anson Williams, who famously played Warren “Potsie” Weber on “Happy Days,” is showing us that age is just a number. While there are some “Happy Days” actors who have passed away, Williams is still going strong. In an Instagram post from not long after his 77th birthday, he shared a shirtless photo of himself flexing in the mirror. In the caption, he wrote: “My yearly reminder to every Boomer: NEVER let anyone diminish us because of our age. I’m 77. More creative, healthier, busier, more curious — and more alive than I was at 40.” People in the comments loved the message from Williams, and he’s clearly inspiring others.

One person thanked Williams for his thoughts and said, “Aging may not be easy, but it can still be fun with the right attitude! Celebrate every day above ground!!” Someone else wrote, “Looking good and inspiring people! I am taking your message to heart.” They also mentioned how pertinent the message was for them and adding some smiling emojis.

Williams explained what helps keep him going as he gets older, and it sounds like he’s focused on avoiding some of the bad habits that age you. He wrote: “A partner who sees the best in me. Good lovin’. Kindness. Adventure. A little discipline — eat right, move, take care of yourself. Mountains still worth climbing. And the absolute refusal to let anyone else decide my worth.”

Anson Williams is in love with his wife and working as a director

As for the partner by his side that helps keep him young, Anson Williams got married to Sharon MaHarry in 2023; it was his third marriage and her second. The two first met more than a decade before their wedding when Williams bought his Ojai, California house from MaHarry, who’s a real estate broker. They got married at the same house. Williams didn’t expect to fall in love again. “At this age, to be able to find that kind of full connection for the first time, and what that means — it’s a miracle,” he told People. “I would trade my stardom, notoriety, all that bologna for Sharon in a minute.”

Williams has been a star for much of his adult life. He was in his mid 20s when “Happy Days” debuted, making him one of those adult actors playing a teenager. While Williams hasn’t worked in front of the screen much in the past few decades, he had guest appearances on an impressive range of shows over his career — including “Sabrina the Teenage Witch,” “Baywatch,” and “Boy Meets World.”

He has continued to work in show business, but behind the scenes. Williams directed the off-Broadway show “Crazy Mama: A True Story of Love and Madness, and the Search for Home,” and he’s directed episodes of many TV shows and TV movies, including “Melrose Place” and “The Secret Life of the American Teenager.” He’s also been active in politics. He ran for mayor of Ojai in 2022 and lost by just 42 votes, and Williams has floated the idea of running again.
