17-year-old fatally shot in Southeast DC

A 17-year-old boy died after being shot Tuesday morning in Southeast D.C. A homicide investigation is underway, the interim police chief said.

Officers responded to the 2700 block of Minnesota Avenue SE at about 11:40 a.m. They found the teen suffering from a gunshot wound. D.C. medics took him to a hospital, where he died.

The teen was shot in a home and then went outside, Interim Chief of Police Jeffery Carroll told reporters.

His name was not immediately released, nor was information on any suspects.
