90-year-old woman dies from wounds suffered in attack at Sydney’s Bondi Beach
A 90-year-old woman has died from gunshot wounds she suffered in a terrorist attack at a Hanukkah celebration in Sydney, according to Australian media. The shooting killed 15 other people.
Eva Geller died Thursday night, nearly 11 months after she was shot at Archer Park near Sydney’s Bondi Beach. A senior community source told ABC News Australia that Geller had been hospitalized several times this year because of her injuries.
Two gunmen opened fire on people gathered at the park to celebrate the Hannukah on December 14, 2025. A 10-year-old girl was among those killed, and dozens of people were injured.
Police shot both gunmen within seven minutes of the first shots. One of them, Sajid Akram, died at the scene. His son, Naveed Akram, was wounded and taken into custody.
The surviving attacker faces 78 charges, including 15 counts of murder, 43 counts of attempted murder and one count of committing a terrorist act. His next court hearing is scheduled for February 24, 2027, according to Australian federal prosecutors.
