You can help decide how to make these ‘high-crash’ Alexandria intersections safer

The city of Alexandria is asking residents their opinion on how to make busy intersections safer through an online survey.
The city identified seven “high-crash” intersections from a 2022 crash analysis. That same year, it received federal funding to perform safety audits and develop concept designs through a grant program by the Department of Transportation.
Red light cameras, bike lanes, new sidewalks and pedestrian islands are some of the changes proposed for the intersections. The changes come as part of Alexandria’s Vision Zero plan to eliminate serious injuries and deaths from crashes by 2028.
Here’s the seven intersections in Alexandria that are under review:
- King Street and Dawes Avenue
- King Street and 28th Street
- King Street and Park Center Drive
- Seminary Road and Mark Center Avenue
- Seminary Road and Kenmore Avenue/Library Lane
- South Van Dorn Street and South Pickett Street
- South Van Dorn Street and Edsall Road
People can submit their feedback through an online survey until Nov. 6.
