Users report iPhone touch screen issues after updating to iOS 27

Apple released iOS 27 on September 14, 2026, and millions of devices worldwide have received it so far. The update brought a few key features, including Siri AI, Apple Intelligence, and performance boosts. However, many users also reported facing a few annoying bugs—two examples are the Face ID and iPhone touch screen issues, which started after updating to iOS 27.

Many affected users took to different social media platforms, including Reddit, to express their dissatisfaction with the recent update. Some users reported facing unresponsive touchscreens while others said they experienced stuttering and lagging issues.

Speaking of the iPhone touch issues that started after updating to iOS 27, a few users said the touchscreen glitch affects almost all parts of the interface. As for the stuttering issue, it mostly happens when switching screens. Some users also reported experiencing the stuttering issue when swiping their screens.

When describing the issue, an iPhone 17 Pro Max user on the r/iOS thread said:

“I searched the group’s archives. Am I the only one with this problem? I was on r/cavalierkingcharles and couldn’t scroll through Kevin’s latest pictures. A disaster. It happens on most of the apps I use and on the home screen. (My screen is fresh and clean.)”

Another iPhone 18 Pro Max user mentioned that some of his apps freeze. An iPhone 15 Pro Max user noted that his keyboard stopped working (the upper right corner of it) after receiving the update.

After going through several reports created by affected users, we discovered a few user-suggested workarounds worth trying. One iPhone 18 Pro Max user noted that “going back to the Home Screen and switching back to the app that froze” can address the issue.

Another user reported that restarting their phone is an effective temporary workaround for the unresponsive touchscreen issue. For the slow performance, a user suggested reducing the number of apps on a particular screen.

Apple is fully aware of the iPhone touch issues that started after updating to iOS 27. To address these issues, the giant tech company recently rolled out the latest iOS 27.0.1 update. This recent update brought fixes to the unresponsive touchscreen issues raised by many users. Many users who already have the new update installed confirmed that it resolved their touch issues. However, a few users (1,2) reported that the issues persist even after updating to iOS 27.0.1.

If switching to iOS 27.0.1 doesn’t resolve the issue, you’ll need to wait for the official fix. We’ll continue to monitor the team for a fix and as soon as we find anything worth sharing, we’ll let you know.
