North Carolina police stop two men ‘driving’ couch on a public roadway

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department

Police in North Carolina made an unusual type of traffic stop last weekend.

What we know:

Officers from the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department were on patrol when they stopped two men driving down a city street on a couch.

The department posted a picture of the “vehicle” on their Facebook page, showing a two-seater love seat hoisted up on top of two electric scooters.

What they’re saying:

Along with the picture, police posted a reminder for people to think about safety. “Ask yourself: Should this be on a road… with actual cars… will the sheer shock of seeing this on the road cause other drivers to lose focus and drive unsafely?” they asked. “If the answer feels even slightly like ‘yes,’ maybe rethink the ride.

What we don’t know:

No word on if the “drivers” were licensed or ticketed.
