Motorist was intoxicated during fatal wrong way wreck on South DuSable Lake Shore Drive, police say
A man was charged with a fatal wrong way crash that left a woman dead Sunday night on South DuSable Lake Shore Drive.
Faymond Johnson, 33, was charged with aggravated DUI resulting in accidental death, reckless homicide with a motor vehicle driving under the influence of alcohol, Chicago police said.
Johnson, of North Lawndale, was arrested less than an hour after police identified him as the person who was driving a black SUV on the wrong side of the drive when he struck a white sedan head-on in the 4000 block of South DuSable Lake Shore Drive, causing a chain-reaction crash, police said.
A 35-year-old woman driving white sedan, Yoketha Brown, 35, died at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, police said.
Johnson was scheduled for a detention hearing at the Leighton Criminal Courthouse Wednesday.
