Missing university of Maryland student found safe

A 22-year-old University of Maryland (UMD) student who was reported missing has been found safe, police said in an update Wednesday night.
Police said the student has been reunited with his family but did not provide further details about where he was found or the circumstances.
The student had last been seen on Oct. 2 at approximately 2:30 a.m.at Terrapin Trail Parking Garage, and the case was labeled critical.
Prior to being found, his family released an emotional video through UMD’s police department where they asked for anyone who had seen the student to call the police. In the video, the three family members were seen sitting next to each other holding hands.
“If you live or work near College Park, check your doorbell, car and business cameras from early Friday and onward,” his mother said in the video. “Business owners, please post a missing person sign around your storefront.”
The university thanked the community supporting the search.
The univesity also said that resources will be made available for UMD students who may be processing the situation, including their mental health website, the University Counseling Center, the Faculty Staff Assistance Program and university chaplains.
