Meghan Markle & Prince Harry Aren’t Going On The UK Apology Tour Some May Have Hoped For – Nicki Swift

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been keeping busy since returning to the U.K. in August 2026, but one thing that doesn’t seem to be on their agenda is an apology tour. Despite murmurs that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were hoping to finally make amends with Prince William and Catherine, Princess of Wales, they reportedly have no intention of saying sorry for their bombshell 2021 interview with Oprah Winfrey. Among the most shocking revelations was the couple’s claim that someone in the royal family had expressed concerns regarding Prince Archie’s skin tone during Meghan’s pregnancy. This reportedly angered William, who later informed reporters, “We’re very much not a racist family,” (via Reuters). 

According to Express, part of the Sussexes’ plans for their U.K. homecoming is to smooth things over with his family. “Their one big regret about leaving the royal family for the US was their interview with Oprah,” an insider dished. “Meghan knows her biggest mistake was her claim that a royal family member had discussed Archie’s skin color.” After giving it some thought, “They now realize what a low blow it was.” If anything, Meghan and Harry just wish William and Catherine would hear them out, with the source noting, “They really want a sit-down so they can address what they said, and Meghan will apologize.” 

However, an insider close to the Sussex camp advised People that, as eager as they might be to reconcile, the Prince and Princess of Wales probably shouldn’t hold their breath for an apology any time soon. “Prince Harry and Meghan remain defiant,” royal expert Kinsey Schofield told Page Six, clarifying, “My own sources have told me this story is absolutely not true.”

There’s still no end in sight in the raging feud between Prince William and Prince Harry. Prior to his shock return to Britain, the Duke of Sussex publicly expressed his desire to reconcile with his family during a May 2025 interview with the BBC. And yet, not only is Harry apparently unwilling to apologize to William, but he’s actually looking for an apology from the royal family for how everything went down when he left. “Friends who caught up with Harry were expecting to hear noises of contrition and humility. Instead, there will be no imminent mea culpa from Harry by the sounds of things. Far from it, in fact,” a source dished to the Daily Mail. “He’s still in that Oprah mindset.” They also noted, “He certainly won’t be issuing a public apology for his actions and he’s whipped himself up all over again.” 

Still, they acknowledged that the whole situation is “shocking and quite sad.” As for the Prince of Wales, well, he’s not exactly eager to call a truce, either. William reportedly remains quite frosty towards Harry and Meghan. “As far as he’s concerned nothing is forgiven and it’s not likely it ever will be, because he doesn’t see them changing their ways,” an insider disclosed to Closer Weekly. For now, he’s just waiting to see how long they stick around before inevitably heading back to America again. “He intends to make things as difficult for them as he can because the sooner they leave, the better,” the source shared.
