Manhunt underway for suspect who shot 3 coworkers in Manassas, police say
Three people were shot at work by their coworker early Wednesday morning in Manassas, according to Manassas City police.
Police responded to the 9415 Wellington Road at United Rentals after 7 a.m. to the report of a shooting. Three United Rentals employees were shot by their coworker, Marvin Grant, in a garage area, according to Manassas City Police Chief Douglas Keen.
There were other employees on site at the time of the shooting. All three coworkers were taken to a nearby hospital and are in critical condition with life threatening injuries, according to police. The coworkers were identified as men.
“Our working theory is that there was some kind of altercation that led to this,” Keen said.
Officers say 37-year-old Grant has fled from the area and are searching for him. Police say he may be driving a gray Toyota Camry or Toyota Corolla that has temporary North Carolina tags.
“We know he’s fled the area. We don’t know where he’s headed to,” Keen said.
Police are telling people to avoid the area and stay indoors as officers investigate. As officers search the area, access to Wellington Road and the Route 28 Bypass have been restricted.
All Jennie Dean Elementary School students and staff are being redirected to Metz Middle School. Both schools are less than two miles away from each other.
