Man charged with attempted murder in 2025 Austin shooting
A man is facing attempted murder charges in connection with the shooting of a 45-year-old man in Austin last November, according to Chicago police.
Juan Rodriguez, 23, was charged following his arrest on Tuesday with attempted first-degree murder, three counts of aggravated battery for discharging a firearm, causing great bodily harm and using a deadly weapon, police said.
The shooting victim was standing on the sidewalk in the 700 block of North Leamington Avenue at 1:20 p.m. on Nov. 28, 2025, when Rodriguez allegedly shot him from inside a green truck, police said.
The wounded man was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in critical condition.
Rodriguez is due in court for a detention hearing Thursday.
