Man accused of killing wife inside Aldie home had hit list in car, police say
The man police accused of killing his wife in their Loudoun County home last month appeared in court Wednesday morning, and an affidavit revealed new details in the case.
Roger Bradford had a hit list in his car when he was pulled over in Pennsylvania, a search warrant affidavit says. Police say he went on the run after shooting and killing his wife, realtor Lisa Bradford, in Aldie on Sept. 22.
Roger Bradford was extradited back to Loudoun County, Virginia, on Tuesday night. When he appeared in court, he told the judge that he doesn’t want a bond, saying, “I’m right where I need to be.”
The judge advised him to stop talking.
According to the search warrant affidavit, when police arrived at the Bradford home, Lisa’s hands were bound behind her back and a pillow was placed over her head. Police say she had been shot and killed.
Lisa Bradford was a beloved realtor in Loudoun County, known for kindness, her volunteerism and how much she loved the three children she left behind.
Police then tracked Roger down to Pennsylvania, where he was found with a journal that “detailed several people Bradford planned to kill, one of which was his wife Lisa,” the affidavit says.
Prosecutors say federal law enforcement is looking at the other names on that list, and are investigating whether the other names in the journal are related to his previous conviction on an unrelated fraud charge.
According to court documents, Roger Bradford spent time in prison for wire fraud in connection with a kickback scheme dating back to 2019. The documents state he struggled with his mental health while in prison and expressed sorrow that his marriage was headed for divorce.
Roger Bradford was arraigned Wednesday on a second degree murder charge and a gun charge in the death of his wife.
The prosecutor said he believes there is clear evidence of premeditation, suggesting the case will be elevated to a first degree murder charge as it moves forward.
