Live updates: Follow key moments from Election Day 2026 in the DMV
Polls in Maryland will be open on Election Day from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. As long as you’re in line by 8 p.m., you will be able to vote.
You can find your Election Day polling place here.
Same-day voter registration will be available by using a provisional ballot. If you’re registering, bring a document that proves where you live, such as:
- your MVA-issued driver’s license, permit or ID card
- a paystub
- a bank statement
- a utility bill
- or another government document that shows your name and address
You can use Maryland’s Voter Lookup tool to confirm your registration, find your assigned polling place, look at a sample ballot and more.
Most Maryland voters won’t have to show ID, but some first-time voters should be prepared to present identification. The Voter Lookup tool should show whether you’ll need to show ID when you vote.
If you are asked to show ID, show an election judge one of the following:
- a copy of a current and valid photo ID (such as a Maryland driver’s license or MVA ID card; a student, employee or military ID card; a U.S. passport, or any other state or federal government-issued ID card)
- or a copy of a current utility bill, bank statement, government check, paycheck or other government document showing your name and address (must be dated within three months of the election)
