Lake Street bridge closes to CTA Green, Pink lines starting Tuesday
The Lake Street bridge over the Chicago River is set to completely close for construction Tuesday, rerouting CTA Green and Pink line trains for nearly two weeks.
Shuttle buses will run between the Clark/Lake and Clinton stations for the length of the closure, through Oct. 26, according to the transit authority.
Pink Line trains won’t run through the Loop at all. Pink Line trains will terminate at Racine, where riders can transfer to the Blue Line.
The Green Line will operate in two separate sections. The Lake Street branch will end at Clinton, where riders can take a free shuttle bus to Clark/Lake.
The Green Line’s southern branch will continue running to the Loop, but will wind around stations in a counter-clockwise direction before returning south again.
The bridge has been closed to vehicle traffic for just over a year. Construction is estimated to last until January 2028.
