iPhone Duo Gap Issue: Users Report Visible Gaps Between Hinge and Back Panel

Apple recently joined the list of major manufacturers offering foldable products. The tech company released its first foldable smartphone (iPhone Duo) on October 23, 2026. The phone features a stunning build, a creaseless inner display, and a powerhouse E20 Pro chip that delivers faster CPU and GPU performance. But as amazing as the foldable smartphone is, it also comes with a few annoying issues. For instance, some early buyers reported spotting a visible gap on the latest iPhone Duo, around the device’s back and hinge.

Here’s what happened

The early buyer took to Reddit to express his dissatisfaction with the new foldable smartphone. When describing the problem, the user said the “gap” issue can only be spotted between the phone’s back and hinge. The user, who bought the foldable smartphone on launch day, noted that he didn’t drop the phone at any point before spotting the gap.

The Redditor (@MICAPe9) posted a video showing the visible gap on iPhone Duo. In the video, the user moved the device from side to side, making it easier for him to spot the gap. Interestingly, @MICAPe9 isn’t the only user experiencing this issue. A few people started noticing the gap as soon as they finished watching the video. One user said:

“Ah, man… I’ve had mine since launch, and I’ve been pleased as punch since it came out of the box. But I can see into the gaps in mine now. That’s crazy.”

Another early buyer said: “I can stick something thicker than paper inside. It’s ever so slight but definitely big enough for crumbs etc to get inside. I assume this isn’t how it’s supposed to be?”

It’s worth noting that this gap issue doesn’t affect all iPhone Duo users. Some early buyers noted that their smartphones are perfectly fine and there’s no visible gap between the back and hinge.

What should you do after spotting the visible gap on iPhone Duo?

The visible gap on iPhone Duo isn’t the only issue that users are reporting. Other major issues affecting the device are:.

  • Annoying cracks on screen
  • Dead pixels
  • Lines across the screen

The good news is that Apple is aware of most of these issues. The tech company said it’s aware that a small number of buyers are facing an issue that impacts the inner display of iPhone Duo. If you fall under this category, Apple recommends visiting their stores for a replacement. If you also experience the visible gap on your iPhone Duo, we advise that you contact the company for a replacement.
