Howard University postpones homecoming parade over construction

A big tradition for Howard University won’t be hitting the streets this year.

The university said it is postponing the homecoming parade because of ongoing constructon along Georgia Avenue.

“This event change was made out of an abundance of caution for the safety and well-being of parade participants, our students, alumni, faculty, staff, community members, and guests,” the school said in a statement.

There are still plenty of events happening this week leading up to Saturday’s football showdown against Morehouse College.

The lineup includes a basketball spirit event, a fashion show, a concert and a step show.

This year’s homecoming theme is “Wildest Dreams,” which the university said “celebrates the limitless possibilities of a Howard University education and the generations of Bison who have transformed bold dreams into extraordinary realities.”
