Delta Flight From New York Evacuated in Tel Aviv Bomb Threat Scare

A Delta Air Lines flight from New York was evacuated Tuesday after landing at Tel Aviv’s Ben Gurion Airport following a bomb threat, according to reports.

Passengers were taken into the terminal while security officials searched the aircraft, the Jerusalem Post reported.

Authorities had been alerted to a possible explosive device aboard the Airbus A330. After the twin-engine jet was thoroughly inspected, the threat was determined to be unfounded.

“The incident has ended with no unusual findings. Operations have returned to normal,” an Israel Airports Authority spokesperson told Ynet.

Delta operates a daily service between John F. Kennedy International Airport and Tel Aviv. The flight departed JFK shortly after 3:30 p.m. Monday and arrived in Tel Aviv at approximately 8:30 a.m. local time.

The number of passengers and crew members aboard the flight was not immediately clear.

The security incident occurred nearly two weeks after “lone wolf” flydubai co-pilot Hamam al-Hammami allegedly attacked pilot Smit Machchhar and attempted to hijack a plane traveling to Tel Aviv.

The Post has contacted Delta for comment.
