DeKalb woman charged in 2023 Austin shooting
A DeKalb woman is facing attempted murder charges for a May 2023 shooting in Austin, according to Chicago police.
Amya Vanwinkle, 23, is facing a count of first-degree attempted murder, police said. She was arrested in DeKalb Wednesday.
Vanwinkle is accused of shooting an unidentified 43-year-old in the back in the 4900 block of West Ohio Street on May 16, 2023, at 1 a.m., police said. The victim was taken to Stroger Hospital in serious condition.
Vanwinkle is due in court Friday.
