A 24-year-old Maryland-area father who came to Cleveland to cheer on his Pittsburgh Steelers against the Browns has vanished, prompting an urgent search by his family and local police.

Phoenix Phillips was last spotted around 6 a.m. Friday in downtown Cleveland, according to a missing-person alert issued by the Cleveland Division of Police.

Authorities said Phillips may be on foot and called the circumstances of his disappearance concerning.

Phillips is approximately 6 feet, 1 inch tall and weighs about 170 pounds. He has blue eyes and was last seen wearing a gray sweatshirt, beige pants and white tennis shoes, police said.

News Outlet has contacted the Cleveland Division of Police for more information about what led to Phillips’ disappearance.

Phillips, who has a 2-year-old son, lives in the Baltimore area. He traveled to Cleveland with a friend for Thursday night’s Steelers-Browns matchup, Cleveland Missing co-founder Sylvia Colon told News Outlet.

Phillips and his companion became separated before he disappeared, Cleveland police spokesperson Sgt. Freddy Diaz told ABC affiliate WEWS.

“He’s from out of state, so he was in town visiting and at some point kind of got separated from the person he was with,” Diaz told WEWS. “After that, we’re still trying to determine what actually happened.”

Investigators are canvassing the area where Phillips was last seen, reviewing surveillance footage and pursuing tips that may shed light on where he went, Diaz told the station.

Phillips’ relatives have traveled to Cleveland to help with the search, Colon told News Outlet.

Colon was scheduled to meet with the family Tuesday as Cleveland Missing assists them during the ongoing effort to locate Phillips.

The organization is helping the family prepare flyers for a neighborhood search and coordinating with law enforcement while assessing what additional support may be needed.

Anyone who may know where Phillips is or have information about his disappearance is urged to contact Cleveland police.
