Car Plunges From San Diego I-5 Into Backyard, Freeway Lanes Closed
A freak crash sent a car into a backyard near San Diego’s I-5 freeway, forcing the closure of part of the busy interstate for hours during Wednesday morning’s commute.
The California Highway Patrol is investigating the early-morning collision, which ended with the vehicle landing in a residential yard, KGTV reported.
The car was traveling south on I-5 near Balboa Avenue when it left the freeway.
Dramatic video posted by ABC10 News showed the white sedan lying on its side in the predawn darkness.
The vehicle appeared to be wedged against a wall behind several storage sheds, with visible damage to its front end.
At one point, the footage appeared to show movement inside the car.
The crash shut down one lane of I-5 for several hours as commuters made their way through the area.
Authorities have not said how the car ended up in the backyard or whether anyone was hurt in the crash.
The California Post contacted the CHP for additional information.
