Man convicted of threatening to kill Pam Bondi in social media post

A federal jury in Minnesota has convicted a man of threatening to kill then-U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi in a social media post, according to federal prosecutors.

Tyler Maxon Avalos, 30, was found guilty Wednesday of transmitting a threat to injure another person across state lines, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Minnesota.

The case began on October 9, 2025, when a social media user in Michigan reported the post to the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). The user told the FBI that the post appeared to offer $45,000 to have Bondi killed.

The post featured a photo of Bondi with a crosshair resembling a rifle scope reticle over her forehead. It described her as “wanted” and said “dead or alive” and “preferably dead.” Avalos added a comment below the post asking, “when they don’t serve us then what?”

The FBI traced the post to Avalos, whose profile displayed symbols associated with anarchists and linked to an “Anarchist FAQ,” according to court records and evidence presented at trial.

Prosecutors said Avalos used several social media platforms to share or promote content celebrating the killing of Charlie Kirk. His accounts also referenced Luigi Mangione, who is accused of killing UnitedHealthcare’s chief executive.

One post showed a sticker reading, “Be the Luigi you want to see in the world,” followed by an anarchist symbol.

Investigators seized Avalos’s phone while searching his home and found a video in which he said he believed he knew where a technology company executive lived with his wife and child. In the video, Avalos said the executive “should be next on the list,” referring to attacks on CEOs.

Avalos has prior felony convictions for stalking in Dakota County, Minnesota, in 2022 and domestic battery in Polk County, Florida, in 2016. He also has several misdemeanor convictions for domestic assault.
