Student faces possible charges over social media post that suggested threat at South Side high school.
Charges are pending for a teen girl whose social media post referencing explosives prompted a Chicago police response to her Kenwood area high school.
Officers at 9:09 a.m. recovered fireworks from the 15-year-old, who allegedly said on social media that she had explosives at Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. College Preparatory High School located at 4445 S. Drexel Blvd., police said.
The nearly 1,000-student school was later declared clear of explosives, and police later found more unused fireworks in the 600 block of East 51st Street that allegedly belonged to the teen.
Charges are pending, police said.
