911 Call Reveals Frantic Response After Hayden Panettiere Found Unresponsive
Newly released 911 audio captures the urgent response after Hayden Panettiere was discovered unresponsive inside a Greenville, South Carolina, apartment in August.
“[I] walked in after church to my brother and his girlfriend’s apartment, and he woke up, and his girl … she’s unconscious,” the caller told the dispatcher.
“No,” the caller replied.

“We’re going to do this 500 times or until help can arrive, OK?” the operator said. “Start counting now — one, two, three, four; one, two, three, four; one, two, three, four; one, two, three, four.”
South Carolina law prohibits the release of FOIA records that identify a person by name. However, the audio matches the date and location of the incident, while the circumstances described in the call are consistent with publicly reported details surrounding Panettiere’s death.
ABC News has contacted a representative for Panettiere for comment.
The Greenville County Coroner’s Office determined that Panettiere died from an accidental drug overdose involving substances that included fentanyl.
The Greenville City Police Department is investigating the death. Sources familiar with the case also said the Drug Enforcement Administration became involved in the inquiry.
According to a police report obtained by ABC News, Panettiere’s former boyfriend, Brian Hickerson, was at the apartment when she died.
The report states that an officer spoke with Brian Hickerson and his brother, Zach Hickerson, who was also at the scene while EMS “was working on the patient.” Zach Hickerson identified Panettiere as his brother’s girlfriend.
