Chicago police are investigating an early-morning shooting that left three people injured while they were inside a moving vehicle in the West Chatham neighborhood.

The incident occurred just before 12:30 a.m. on Saturday, December 20, 2025, in the 8100 block of South Stewart Avenue, according to the Chicago Police Department.

Victims and Injuries

Authorities said three individuals were inside the vehicle when an unidentified suspect opened fire.

A 21-year-old woman suffered a bullet fragment wound to the back of her head. A 25-year-old man was shot in the arm and hand, while a 26-year-old woman sustained graze wounds to her abdomen and arm.

Despite their injuries, all three victims were able to drive themselves to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where they were listed in fair condition.

Ongoing Investigation

Police said the shooter fled the scene immediately after the gunfire. No suspects have been taken into custody as of Saturday morning.

Area Two detectives are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting, including potential motives and suspect descriptions.
