Storm Team4 Forecast: Morning drizzle to dry out ahead of this week’s warmup

4 things to know about the weather:

  1. Rain finally over
  2. Remaining cloudy Monday
  3. Warming trend starts Tuesday
  4. Warm, sunny by mid-week

The rain is over but the sunshine is still a day or so away.

The nor’easter responsible for the weekend’s rain and wind is currently off the Jersey Shore. By the end of the day, it will be leaving Long Island and by the end of Tuesday, it will be leaving the Gulf of Maine.

High pressure will be building into the area so rain chances will dry up Monday morning and our next chance for rain isn’t likely to arrive until the Saturday afternoon or evening. The week ahead will also feature a big warming trend.

With the storm still relatively close by, our skies will remain mostly cloudy for the remainder of the day. It will be warmer than Sunday’s mid-60s but highs Monday afternoon aren’t likely to get much above 70°. The clouds will begin to break up a bit Monday night but are likely to return for a time on Tuesday afternoon.

There should still be enough sunshine in the first half of the day Tuesday to lift temperatures into the low to mid-70s.

Southwest winds will finally return on Wednesday so the second half of the week will be sunny and much warmer. Mainly sunny skies will bring highs to around 80° on Wednesday, 85° on Thursday and Friday. Better make the most of these upcoming warm, sunny days.

Showers are expected to arrive at some point on Saturday afternoon and there could be some fairly heavy rain on Sunday. Once the rain ends, next week is looking decidedly cooler than average.
