Man charged in fatal shooting during family argument in Greater Grand Crossing

A 59-year-old man was charged with first-degree murder following a fatal September shooting in Greater Grand Crossing, Chicago police said.

Coleman Jeffrey, 59, was arrested on Friday in Greater Grand Crossing. He’s accused of fatally shooting Mark Hurn, 54, on Sept. 27 in the 500 block of East 76th Street.

At the time, police said the shooting stemmed from a family argument. A witness told officers the fight was about the shooter and the care of his mother. Hurn was the boyfriend of the alleged shooter’s sister. He was shot in his chest, abdomen and legs.

Jeffrey was scheduled to appear in court on Sunday at the George Leighton Criminal Courthouse, 2650 S. California Ave.
