This morning, the damp weather will clear after some morning drizzle and give us a crisp, breezy, sunny Friday start with temperatures in the mid-60s.
We’ll go back up into the mid-80s by the afternoon.
The evening will bring the last of this week’s weathercoaster ups and downs: Rain returns with a vengeance, and a thunderstorm could form in the area. Winds could reach speeds up to 50 mph, so take the time to secure any Halloween decorations you don’t want to blow away.
The weather drama will play out before the weekend actually starts, and you can look forward to beautiful autumnal conditions on Saturday.

A strong push of chilly Canadian air settles over the DC Metro to start the weekend. Temperatures will be nearly 15 degrees below average with a brisk northwest breeze.
After any early clouds Saturday morning, sunshine takes over for the weekend. Expect excellent visibility and very dry air.
Temperatures drop into the upper 30s and lower 40s Saturday and Sunday nights. Some of the colder suburbs could flirt with the mid-30s.
Temperatures recover slowly Monday and Tuesday with plenty of sunshine. Highs return to the 60s by Tuesday while dry weather continues.
