Florida Troopers Seek Witness in Deadly International Drive Hit-and-Run

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – The Florida Highway Patrol said Monday that investigators are seeking a potential witness who may have recorded video of a person fleeing after a fatal Orange County crash earlier this year.

The collision occurred at approximately 2:46 a.m. Aug. 30 near Central Florida Parkway and International Drive, according to troopers.

FHP said the witness may have captured footage of the driver running away from the crash scene on foot.

WHAT WE KNOW SO FAR

Troopers previously reported that 19-year-old Christopher Laureda allegedly drove through a red light and collided with another vehicle. His car overturned and came to rest on its left side.

The driver of the second vehicle, a 29-year-old man from Connecticut, was taken to a hospital, where he later died, troopers said. A woman traveling with him suffered serious injuries and was also hospitalized.

According to FHP, Laureda left the area on foot while his three passengers stayed at the scene. All four people in Laureda’s vehicle sustained minor injuries.

Orange County deputies later located Laureda and took him into custody. He is facing charges of leaving the scene of a crash involving a death and DUI manslaughter.
