Caitlin Clark Receives Just One First-Place Vote in WNBA MVP Balloting
Caitlin Clark fans were surprised Thursday after learning the Indiana Fever star received just one first-place vote in the WNBA MVP race, despite an impressive all-star season.
Las Vegas Aces standout A’ja Wilson captured the MVP award in dominant fashion, earning 65 first-place votes out of 74 ballots, according to The Spun. Every voter placed Wilson no lower than second.
Three other players also received first-place votes: Olivia Miles had six, Kelsey Mitchell collected two, and Clark received one. Miles was the clear second-place choice, earning 40 votes worth seven points apiece. Mitchell received 12 second-place votes, while Stewart had seven and Clark had six.
Wilson also led the overall scoring with 713 points, finishing ahead of Miles and Clark combined. Miles totaled 442 points, followed by Mitchell with 287, Clark with 212 and Stewart with 171.

Fox News reported that Clark appeared on 55 ballots. Her breakdown included one first-place vote, six second-place votes, 20 third-place votes, 16 fourth-place votes and 12 fifth-place votes. Her 212-point total left her well behind Miles at 442 and Mitchell at 287.
Although commentators largely agreed Wilson delivered an outstanding season and was a deserving winner, many questioned why Clark received so little support for the top spot. Fans quickly took their frustration to social media.
“Miles finishing with more than Mitchell and Clark, combined, proves this award is an absolute joke. It’s become the most meaningless award in professional sports,” one X user wrote.
