Russian Missile Strike on Kyiv Kills at Least Two People
KYIV – Russian forces attacked Ukraine’s capital with ballistic missiles overnight Wednesday, killing two people and damaging civilian infrastructure, Ukrainian officials said.
Explosions echoed across central Kyiv at about 3 a.m. local time.
A missile hit a nonresidential building in Kyiv’s Podilskyi district, triggering a fire, the Kyiv City Military Administration said.
In the Darnytskyi district, another strike set a garage complex ablaze. Officials said the fire was extinguished and the site was damaged. Debris from the attack was also found in a nearby open area.
The administration confirmed that two people died in the attack, but it did not immediately release additional information about the victims.
Tymur Tkachenko, head of the Kyiv Regional Military Administration, said the wider Kyiv region had also come under a combined assault involving drones and ballistic missiles.
Three production and storage facilities were damaged in the Obukhiv district, Tkachenko said. Fires broke out at the sites but were brought under control. A truck and trailer were also damaged, he added.
